President William Ruto and his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, are attending a church service at St. Mark’s Kigari Teachers College in Embu County as part of the 35th Diocesan Anniversary celebrations, which will also feature a fundraising event.
The two leaders have consistently engaged in worship with congregations across the country, using such platforms to deliver political messages and strengthen ties with communities at the grassroots.
This latest church visit follows President Ruto’s return from a diplomatic mission to Europe and the United Kingdom, where he signed multiple bilateral agreements. Meanwhile, Deputy President Kindiki was on the ground at the Coast, leading empowerment drives for small-scale traders across several counties.
Ruto and Kindiki are expected to reinforce their defense of Kenya Kwanza’s economic reform agenda, which they say requires patience from the public.
However, critics ranging from opposition figures to former political allies argue that the administration’s fiscal measures are overly burdensome and risk pushing citizens deeper into economic strain.
The duo will be welcomed by Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, who confirmed the visit on her official Facebook page, saying, “Karibu Embu.” A number of leaders from both national and local levels are also expected to join them at the event.
